FLASH POINT: 105° F. FLAMMABLE LIMITS IN AIR, 5 BY VOLUME: LEL = 0.6%; UEL = 6%. AUTOGINITION TEMPERATURE: N/A. EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Foam, carbon dioxide or dry chemical. SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Protect fire fighters from toxic products of combustion by wearing self-contained breathing apparatus. UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS: Closed containers may rupture or explode due to pressure build-up when exposed to extreme heat. Vapors are heavier than air and may travel along the ground by ventilation and ignited by heat, pilot lights, or other sources of ignition at locations distant from material handling point. Never use a welding or cutting torch near product or container because residue can ignite explosively.
VIII. HEALTH HAZARD DATA
PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY: Skin contact, eye contact, inhalation. EYE CONTACT: Will cause irritation to eyes. SKIN CONTACT: Will cause irritation to skin, prolonged contact may cause redness, defatting and dermatitis. INHALATION: High concentrations may cause dizziness and unconsciousness. CARCINOGENICITY: NTP: No. IARC Monographs: No. OSHA Regulated: No. MEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: Any condition generally aggravated by solvents, including preexisting upper respiratory and lung disease such as, but not limited to, bronchitis, emphysema, and asthma. FIRST AID PROCEDURES: EYES: Upon eye contact, flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention. SKIN: Upon skin contact, wash with soap and water. Get medical attention. INHALATION: Remove to fresh air, if not breathing give artificial respiration. Get medical attention. INGESTION: Do not induce vomiting, call a physician immediately.
IX. REACTIVITY DATA
STABILITY: Stable under normal storage conditions. INCOMPATIBILITY: Strong bases or oxidants. HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons. HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION: Will not occur under normal conditions.
X. SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES
SPILLS: Remove sources of ignition. Contain spill. Wear appropriate protective equipment during clean-up. Absorb with an inert material, such as clay and remove to appropriate waste area. WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD: Do not reuse container. Dispose of container and any unused contents in accordance with Federal, State and Local Waste Disposal Regulations. Do not flush unused contents or residue down drains.
XI. SPECIAL HANDLING AND USE INFORMATION
VENTILATION: Use with adequate ventilation. Use local exhaust to insure that vapor levels are below the lowest component TLV. RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Not normally needed, if there is not adequate ventilation, use with a NIOSH approved organic vapor cartridge respirator. SKIN AND EYE PROTECTION: It is always a good safety practice to avoid contact with eyes and prolonged contact with skin. If contact may occur, use chemical splash goggles and latex or rubber gloves.
XII. SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN IN HANDLING AND STORAGE: Keep away from heat and flame. Keep container closed when not in use. Store in area suitable for combustible mixtures, below 90° F. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. OTHER PRECAUTIONS: None. WORK SITE ENVIRONMENT: Initially there may be a potential adverse impact on indoor air quality within the general work area during the installation process. Therefore you should advise the building manager or other appropriate person that:
-
It will be necessary to establish and maintain adequate ventilation of the work area, without causing the entry of contaminants to other parts of the building; and
-
Persons who are sensitive to odors and/or chemicals should be advised to avoid the work area during this process.
The information presented herein is supplied as a guide to those who handle or use this product. Safe work practices must be employed when working with any materials.
